Coriander seeds are the berries of the Coriander plant that are harvested at the end of the summer and then dried.  They are a common ingredient of Asian, Indian, Mexican and Middle Eastern dishes and provide a lemony citrus flavour when crushed.  Roasting or heating the seeds in a dry pan before using in any recipe heightens the warm, nutty, spicy aroma and pungency.
