Not technically seeds, Caraway is the split halves of the dried fruits of a plant that are used as a spice.  Brown, long, narrow, slightly curved, ridged and pointed at both ends, it is aromatic and has a distinctive bitter, sharp, nutty taste, with warm, sweet undertones.  It is used extensively in European, Asian and African dishes.  Suitable for both savoury and sweet dishes, Caraway is an important component of most traditional rye bread recipes.  Caraway is also used when making Sauerkraut, polish sausages, or Tunisian harissa.
