The Bay Leaf is an aromatic leaf that comes from the Bay Laurel tree, an evergreen plant that grows slowly in warm climates.   It is a key ingredient of the classic bouquet garni which is used to enhance marinades, vinegars, sauces and stews.   The leaves are traditionally removed from the dish before serving.
