Poppy Seeds

Poppy seeds are obtained from the dry fruits of the Poppy plant.  Nutty and pleasant in taste, Poppy seeds are a popular ingredient that is used as a condiment.   Poppy seeds are also found in many pastries and confectioneries. The seeds can be crushed and mixed with honey to garnish oriental pastries and are used to make nougatine.   The roasted seeds can be sprinkled on breads, rolls, muffins, cakes, candied fruits, almond tart and even vanilla ice cream.
