Anise, also called Aniseed is a flowering plant native to the eastern Mediterranean region and Southwest Asia that produces a small white fruit known as Anise seed.  Its delicate liquorice taste is often associated with sweet dishes and its scent, flavour and digestive and anaesthetic virtues also make Anise a favourite addition to many drinks and liqueurs.
