Chinese Five Spice

Chinese Five Spice is so called, not just because it contains five spices, but because the mix covers all five tastes – bitter, pungent, salty, sour and sweet. This traditional blend of Chinese cuisine is composed of Star Anise, Fennel, Cinnamon, Coriander and Cumin. Its pungency works well with fatty meats such as pork and duck; the aromatic, slightly aniseed flavour gives a punchy addition to marinades.
